Prior to obtaining his current role, he was chief resident in internal medicine at Hahnemann University Hospital from 1989 to 1990, having been resident since 1987. Earlier in his career, he was an intern in internal medicine with the hospital from 1986 to 1987, where he was also a fellow in gastroenterology.
Dr. McKibbin began his career as a student at the University of Pennsylvania, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in 1981. He continued his studies with the Hahnemann University School of Medicine, earning a Doctor of Medicine in 1986. He is licensed to practice medicine in the state of Pennsylvania, and he is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and the National Board of Medical Examiners.
A highlight of Dr. McKibbin’s career was the 20 years of cancer work he did as a liaison to the Commission on Cancer. He won the National Physician Outstanding Performance Award for improving cancer care in the region. Dr. McKibbon is happy he has gotten a chance to serve others and he has enjoyed teaching and helping people. He would advise all others to keep an open mind and be aware that with new discoveries come new knowledge and that one must always be willing to learn.
A respected voice in his areas of expertise, Dr. McKibbin has been an active leader in his community. A fellow of the American College of Physicians, he is a member of the American Medical Association, the Association of Clinical Research Professionals, the American Gastroenterological Association, and the American College of Physician Executives. He has also been affiliated with the National Rifle Association, the Safari Club International, and Alpha Epsilon Delta.
