Compelled to help others from an early age, Dr. Iacovone decided to pursue cardiology. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in biology with High Honors in 1989 as well as a Doctor of Medicine in 1993, both from Rutgers University, also serving as the chief medical resident in the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School at Rutgers. Dr. Iacovone holds certification to practice from the American Board of Interventional Cardiology, the American Board of Cardiovascular Medicine and the American Board of Internal Medicine. Presently, he is an interventional cardiologist who serves at the Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, the Bayonne Medical Center, the Cardiology Center of New Jersey and the St. Barnabas Medical Center. Furthermore, Dr. Iacovone works at the Clara Maass Medical Center as well as the Brooklyn Hospital Center, is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and holds membership with the Society of Cardiac Arteriography and Interventions, the American College of Physicians, the International Society of Endovascular Specialists, the Academy of Medicine of New Jersey and the American Medical Associations.
Dr. Iacovone’s time in medical school influenced his decision to pursue cardiology and he considers his graduation from the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School of Rutgers University to be a career highlight. He has taught students at Cornell University and would like to teach again in the future as well as establish a private practice. Though he works at multiple locations, Dr. Iacovone is affiliated with St. Barnabas Medical Center, where he does all his procedures and conducts research. He plans to become more involved in the St. Barnabas system where he can teach medical students and fellows as well as work on clinical research projects. Dr. Iacovone attributes his success to his parents, who raised five children and instilled a strong work ethic in each of them. Based in New York City, Dr. Iacovone is happily married to his wife Vita Iacovone and is the proud father of their daughter.
