Dr. Anne Barlow, Retired Assistant Clinical Professor at the Woman’s Medical College of Pennsylvania, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the health care industry.

Drawing upon more than 55 years of practiced industry experience, Dr. Barlow is currently retired, having most recently served as an assistant clinical professor at the Woman’s Medical College of Pennsylvania. During her tenure, she also served as the longtime president of Albamed, Inc., from 1985 to 2005. Prior to delving into academia, she served Abbott Laboratories in multiple capacities between 1963 and 1984, including vice president of medical affairs in the hospital products division, medical director, manager of parenteral nutrition in the hospital products division, assistant medical director, manager of clinical development in the pharmaceutical products division, medical specialist in antibiotic medicine and medical writer. Earlier in her career, she maintained involvement with Cook County Hospital, St. Margaret Hospital, the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health, the William H. Maybury Tuberculosis Sanatorium and the Yale University School of Public Health, among several other facilities. She commenced her career as a house physician at North Lonsdale Hospital in England and a house surgeon at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary in Scotland between 1948 and 1949.

Dr. Barlow is the recipient of a Bachelor of Medicine, a Bachelor of Surgery from the London School of Medicine for Women, a diploma in child health from the Royal Colleges of England, and a Master of Public Health, with honors, from Yale University. She has contributed myriad articles on maternal and infant care to medical journals, and she is a patentee in high calorie solutions of low molecular weight glucose polymer mixtures used for intravenous administration. Affiliated with the American Association for the Advancement of Science, she notably served as president of the Nassau County Medical Society, the Pan-American Medical Women’s Alliance, and the North America chapter of the Medical Women’s International Association. Since 2004, she has been acting as chair of the American Women’s Hospital Services committee of the American Medical Women’s Association, from which she received the Elizabeth Blackwell Medal in 1992.

In light of all of her accomplishments, Dr. Barlow has been the recipient of multiple accolades from such entities as the American Medical Association Foundation, the YWCA, the Lake County Tuberculosis Sanatorium Board, the Lake County Community Action Project and the Illinois Public Health Association. In her spare time, she enjoys breeding horses and competing dressage horses and is a founding member of Annie B. Farms, where she breeds and maintains a variety of sport horses.
