Linda Lavey, Pediatrician, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in pediatric medicine.
From an early age, Dr. Lavey could sense the field of biology was calling to her. She started her career in clinical research because it allowed her to work with people. Soon after, she decided to go into pediatrics because she loved children and knew it was a job she could take on that if she needed to stay up all night for, she would have no problem in doing just that. Following the decision to go into pediatrics, she became a pediatrician and consultant in private practice in 1992. She had previously worked as the President of Dr. Pockets, Inc., as associate director of clinical research of Ayerst Laboratories, and as adjunct assistant professor of pharmacology and pediatrics at Cornell University Medical College. She served an internship and residency in pediatrics at Cornell University as well.
Dr. Lavey pursued her love of biology by first earning a Bachelor of Arts at Barnard College in 1970. She continued at Columbia University, whereupon she received an MD in 1975. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics. During her career as a researcher, she worked for the New York State Institute of Basic Research of Developmental Disabilities and as the Director of Medical Affairs at Knoll Pharmaceutical Co. among various other companies. In 1979, her work was recognized with the Women’s Medical Association of the City of New York Mary Putman Jacobi Fellowship. She has also been a fellow of the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Foundation and St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center. Furthermore, Dr. Lavey has maintained professional affiliation with the American College of Cardiology, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the New York Academy of Medicine, the American Federation of Clinical Research, the American Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics and the Midtown North Community Hospital.
