Drawing upon more than 30 years of practiced industry experience, Dr. Achiron is a seasoned professional whose expertise in eye disorders and impairments is unparalleled. Since 2016, he has been serving as the director of the Atlanta Vision Cataract and Laser Center, having also served in the same capacity for Omni Eye Services since 2003 and Georgia Eye Consultants since 2000. In addition to these roles, he has maintained his own private practice since 1999. Prior to these illustrious positions, he was the clinical director of the Laser Vision Institute from 1999 to 2003 and an assistant clinical professor in the department of ophthalmology at Emory University School of Medicine from 1993 to 1999. He commenced his career as a staff optometrist with HealthAmerica Medical Center from 1987 to 1992.
Alongside his primary career endeavors, Dr. Achiron was a staff member at Chestatee Regional Hospital and an adjunct clinical professor at multiple institutions, including the Pacific University College of Optometry, the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University, and the New England College of Optometry. Likewise, he previously served as a deputy examiner for the National Board of Optometry in 2000 and 2003, having formerly been on the International Olympic Committee Eye Care Team for the Atlanta Olympics in 1996.
To prepare for his career, Dr. Achiron pursued formal education at the University at Buffalo, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1981. Thereafter, he received a Doctor of Optometry from the New England College of Optometry in 1986. He has since become a diplomate of the American Academy of Optometry. In addition, he has also published more than 30 papers to various professional journals within his areas of expertise.
In an effort to remain abreast of recent developments within the industry, Dr. Achiron has maintained affiliation with several professional organizations. A member of the Georgia Optometric Association, he has also associated with the American Optometric Association and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. Notably, he is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, where he formerly served as interview chair and case report chair.
In recognition of his outstanding undertakings in optometry, Dr. Achiron was selected for inclusion in the sixth edition of Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare and the 59th edition of Who’s Who in America. A native of Brooklyn, NY, he has been married to Deborah L. Stern since 1996 and is the proud father of two children, Alyssa and Joshua.
