His desire to help others stemmed from his interest in witnessing the rapid technological developments in the field. With that in mind, he has remained on the cutting edge of providing health care. Since 2010, he has been the Director of Cardiovascular Surgery at the Ascension Borgess Hospital & Medical Center. In addition, he has prepared future generations of medical professionals was an assistant professor of surgery at the Western Michigan University at the Homer Styker, MD School of Medicine.
Dr. Martin pursued his career in medicine by earning an MD from Wayne State University in 1980. Dr. Martin also completed a residency and fellowship at the institution. He became a diplomate of the American Board of Thoracic Surgery in 1988. In his career, he has been a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club and involved with the Society of Thoracic Surgery. Although tending to his patient’s has been his life’s work, Dr. Martin is excited to also be entering the next phase of his life and looks forward to retirement.
