An expert in radiology and nuclear medicine, Dr. Pino thrived in his decades-long career. He started at New York Hospital as an intern in 1964 and a resident in pediatrics in 1965, but left in 1967 to become a major in the U.S. Army. Dr. Pino returned to medicine in 1969, when he joined a private pediatrics practice in Fort Lee, New Jersey. He spent nearly a decade there before deciding to refocus. From 1974 to 1976, he served as a resident in radiology at New York Hospital/Cornell Medical Center, and from 1976 to 1977, he served as the chief resident in radiology at the institution. Dr. Pino transferred to St. Mary’s hospital in New Jersey in 1977, and stayed there as a radiologist and as the director of radiology and nuclear medicine until his retirement. He considers his leadership positions to be the highlights of his career.
To prepare for his endeavors, Dr. Pino obtained a Bachelor of Arts in history from New York University in 1960 and an MD from the State University of New York in 1964. He also became a diplomate of the American Board of Radiology and the American Board of Pediatrics. To keep in touch with his peers and community, he joined prominent organizations like the American College of Radiology and Phi Beta Kappa. In his free time, Dr. Pino enjoys pursuing hobbies like classical music, opera, and reading.
