Phyllis H. Daen, Ph.D., Director at West River Therapy, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in psychology.
Drawing upon more than five decades of industry experience, Dr. Daen is a preeminent figure in the realm of psychology, having held the role of director of West River Therapy since 2005. Prior to this prominent position, she served as the longtime director of the Virginia Psychological Institute from 1978 to 2005 and director of training at the Woodburn Center for Community Mental Health from 1972 to 1978, which she cites as a highlight of her career due to her opportunity to develop a new training program for psychology. She commenced her career as the director of psychology at the South County Mental Health Center in 1967, a role she held for five years.
Alongside her primary endeavors, Dr. Daen has been serving as an adjunct associate professor at George Washington University since 1973, having previously acted as an adjunct assistant professor at Georgetown University Medical School in 1974. Affiliated with the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Psychological Association, she is a licensed psychologist in the states of Maryland, Virginia and Washington.
Dr. Daen holds a Bachelor of Science from Queens College and a Doctor of Philosophy from Adelphi University. Interested in psychology from a young age, she was inspired to delve into the profession due to its evolving nature in the medical industry. In recognition of her contributions to the field of psychology, she was selected for inclusion in the 23rd edition of Who’s Who in the East, published in 1990.
