Dr. Howard R. Gould, Professor Emeritus at the University of Tennessee Medical Center, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in radiology.
After having served in the medical profession as an educator and radiologist for over 40 years, Dr. Gould is currently retired, and holds the title of Professor Emeritus at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. He retired in 1999, serving at the time as a professor of radiology at the school, as well as Senior Radiologist at the Medical Center.
Completing a Doctor of Medicine at the State University of New York in 1956, Dr. Gould then followed with a residency in radiology at St. Vincent’s Hospital between 1957 and 1960. A diplomate of the American Board of Radiology, the American Board of Nuclear Medicine and the National Board of Medical Examiners, he is licensed to practice medicine in New York, New Jersey, Wisconsin and Tennessee.
During the course of Dr. Gould’s career, he also had other academic appointments including as a clinical assistant professor at New Jersey College of Medicine and clinical associate professor at New York University Medical School. He has contributed his expertise in nine books and book chapters, as well as dozens of articles in scholarly journals and has hosted more than 65 presentations and lectures on such topics as CT and organ scans.
Earning several grants for research from such organizations as The Squibb Institute for Medical Research and the National Institutes of Health, Dr. Gould has been the recipient of multiple awards for his career in academia as well. Receiving four Faculty Teaching Awards in the department of surgery and radiology at the University of Tennessee Medical Center between 1986 and 1998, as well as a Leadership and Service Award in 1996, he has also been highlighted in 30 editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest and Who’s Who in the World.
