Henry Lim, Associate Dean at Wayne State University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in dermatology and education.
Dr. Lim enjoyed science and interacting with people, which prompted him to pursue a career in medicine. He chose dermatology during his fourth year and felt the specialty would have a lot of opportunity to do investigative research. This choice has lent itself to a career filled with accomplishments, including his current appointment as the associate dean at Wayne State University/Henry Ford Health Systems. He had previously served as the chairman of the Department of Dermatology at the Henry Ford Hospital. Prior to these roles, Dr. Lim taught and served as a department chairman, director and assistant dean at New York University.
With his passion for helping others fueling his desire to work in medicine, Dr. Lim first earned a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry with honors at McGill University in 1971. He continued at the State University of New York in Brooklyn to receive an MD, cum laude, in 1975. Throughout his career, Dr. Lim has received a number of awards. Dr. Lim is the recipient of the Fred W. Whitehouse Distinguished Career Award and multiple presidential citations from the American Academy of Dermatology. He has maintained affiliation with a number of professional affiliations such as the American Medical Association, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Board of Dermatology, the Photomedicine Society and the American Federation for Clinical Research. In his career, he is most proud of several accomplishments, including his time as chair of the department because he was able to mentor and develop a number of trainees. His election as president of the American Academy of Dermatology is another standout in his career.
