Having also been an associate clinical professor of pediatrics and lecturer at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, earlier in his career, he also was the longtime associate clinical professor of pediatrics at the School of Medicine at New York University for 24 years. Most notably, however, he was chairman of the department of pediatrics at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center for half a century, gaining emeritus status in 2009.
To prepare for his career, Dr. Eden earned a Bachelor of Arts from Columbia College and a Doctor of Medicine from Boston University in 1948 and 1952, respectively. He completed an internship at Bellevue Hospital in New York City until 1953, as well as a residency in pediatrics at the University Hospital in New York City until 1955. Throughout his career, he has additionally authored myriad articles in professional journals, as well as textbooks and reference materials. Furthermore, he has written seven books regarding pediatrics, childhood obesity and parenting.
Among Dr. Eden’s plethora of achievements, he is proud of his work regarding iron deficiency in infants and toddlers, discovering that iron deficiency contributes to the loss of IQ points in childhood. After years of research, he convinced the National Committee on Nutrition with the American Academy of Pediatrics to revise their recommendations in terms of how to prevent iron deficiency in children. In addition, he has conducted extensive research on childhood obesity; his book was the first book to recognize the dangers of the condition. He has been highlighted in several editions of Who’s Who in Finance and Business, Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in the East and Who’s Who in the World.
