With two decades of professional experience, Dr. Williams is a prominent radiation oncologist who has been serving Radiation Oncology of Atlanta, LLC, for several years. After losing two family members to cancer, he felt inspired to enter the field in an effort to better the lives of those diagnosed with various forms of cancer, including cancer afflicting the lungs, head and neck, central nervous system, gastrointestinal, prostate, colorectal and lymphoma. He holds board certifications in radiation oncology and is licensed to practice in the state of Georgia.
Dr. Williams utilizes his many years of expertise to tailor each patient’s treatment plan, choosing from among the most technologically innovative treatment options to ensure minimal exposure to healthy tissues and organs. Affiliated with the Northside Hospital Cancer Institute in Atlanta and Alpharetta, GA, he has been a committee member and conference facilitator since 2011. In addition, he has been a frequent contributing author to the DeKalb Medical Center’s Annual Cancer Committee Report from 1997 to 2002.
To prepare for his career, Dr. Williams pursued formal education at Tulane University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in 1980. He subsequently attended the School of Medicine at Temple University, receiving a Master of Science in 1984. Thereafter, he returned to Tulane University to attend their School of Medicine and obtained a Doctor of Medicine in 1988. He completed an internship in surgery at Columbia University Hospitals/St. Luke’s Roosevelt and residency in radiation oncology at the SUNY Downstate Health Science Center, where he later became chief resident.
In order to remain aware of recent developments within the field, Dr. Williams maintains affiliation with numerous organizations, such as the American Brachytherapy Society, the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology, the American Society for Clinical Oncology, and the History of Medicine Society with the Tulane University School of Medicine. As a testament to his professional success, he was the recipient of the James A. McLaurin Award for Excellence in Research in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery. In addition, he has earned numerous Top 10 Doctor Awards at the local and state levels, has received recognition as a Top Doctor by Castle Connolly, and has been honored with multiple On-Time Doctor and Compassionate Doctor Awards throughout his career.
