Vincent Justus Felitti, MD, Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of California, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the health care industry.

With more than 50 years of professional experience, Dr. Felitti has been serving as a clinical professor of medicine at the University of California since 1982, having also been a physician and internist with Kaiser Permanente since 1968. Previously, he served the Southern California Permanente Medical Group as an elected director from 1974 to 1977 and again from 1980 to 1985, as well as partner from 1968 to 2001, when he reached emeritus status. Prior to these illustrious roles, he was the founding chairman of the Department of Preventive Medicine in San Diego, CA, in 1975, having commenced his career as a post surgeon at the U.S. Army Pine Bluff Arsenal in 1965. He was also a captain of the Medical Corps with the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1965.

Alongside his primary endeavors, Dr. Felitti has been on the International Academic Board of “Trauma und Gewalt” in Zurich, Switzerland, since 2006 and as the senior editor of The Permanente Journal since 1998. Previously, he was on the Gulf War committee of the National Academy of Science’s Institute of Medicine from 2005 to 2007 and on the task force on early childhood violence of the American Psychiatric Association from 2005 to 2006. An expert reviewer for the Medical Board of California between 1995 and 2009, he also served as a co-principal investigator of the Adverse Childhood Experiences Study since 1990. He currently holds the role of president of the California Institute of Preventive Medicine.

Dr. Felitti holds a Bachelor of Arts from Dartmouth College and a Doctor of Medicine from Johns Hopkins Medical School. He subsequently completed a residency and internship in internal medicine at the John Hopkins Division of the Baltimore City Hospitals, thus becoming a fellow of Johns Hopkins University and a senior resident of medicine in the University of Maryland Hospital. He has since become a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine. A contributor of more than 125 articles to esteemed journals throughout his career, he has also been a frequent speaker in the field.

In recognition of his exceptional contributions to the medical industry, Dr. Felitti received a fellowship from the American College of Physicians. In addition, he was named Partner of the Year by the Southern California Permanente Medical Group and was the recipient of the Botany Prize from Dartmouth College. Dr. Felitti has been highlighted in several editions of Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in Science and Engineering.
