Alongside this prominent role, he has been the program director for the Chief Residency in Quality and Safety Program at the Veteran Affairs Medical Center since 2015 and a hospitalist at the Veteran Affairs Medical Center since 2010.
To prepare for his illustrious career, Dr. John pursued a formal education at the Government Medical College in Thiruvananthapuram, India, where he earned a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery in 2004. He subsequently completed a residency at the State University of New York Upstate Medical University in 2010. After obtaining some hands-on experience in the field, he earned a Master of Science in medical management from the Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University in 2018. He is a certified physician executive by the American Association for Physician Leadership.
A member of the American College of Physicians, Dr. John just received a grant to set up a new clinical program called Hospital in Home, an alternative to inpatient admission stays and delivered in the veteran’s home. Dr. John hopes this will better treat conditions such as heart failure, pneumonia, and skin infections, leading to the reduced risk of health care-associated infections.
