Dr. Rosen is an esteemed figure in the health care industry with more than 40 years of professional experience. The provost and chief scientific officer for City of Hope National Medical Center and a member of the City of Hope’s executive team, he is also the director of the Comprehensive Cancer Center, holds the Irell and Manella Cancer Center Director’s Distinguished Chair, and is the director of the Beckman Research Institute of City of Hope and the Irell and Manella Graduate School of Biological Sciences. Earlier in his career, he served Northwestern University Medical School as an associate in the department of medicine, assistant professor of medicine and Genevieve Teuton professor of medicine until 2014. He was also the director of the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center at Northwestern University for 24 years.
To prepare for his illustrious career, Dr. Rosen pursued an education at Northwestern University, where he completed a 6-Year Honors Program in 1972 and earned a Doctor of Medicine with distinction in 1976. He completed his internship and residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital between 1976 and 1979 and his fellowship in medical oncology at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, MD, between 1979 and 1981. He is certified in hematology and medical oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
The author of more than 400 reports, editorials, books and book chapters, Dr. Rosen is the current editor-in-chief of “Cancer Treatment and Research” and has been on the editorial boards of Anticancer Research since 2016, Targeted Therapies since 2014, The ASCO Post since 2012, and Hematologic Oncology since 2012. In recognition of his exceptional contributions to the health care industry, Dr. Rosen has accrued several accolades during his impressive career. Recognized as one of the Best Doctors in America, he was a recipient of the Martin Luther King Humanitarian Award from Northwestern Memorial Hospital and the Man of Distinction Award from the Israel Cancer Research Fund. A fellow of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, Nov. 9, 2011, was named Steven T. Rosen Day in his honor in the city of Chicago.
Married to Candice Rosen with four children and one grandchild, Dr. Rosen has been highlighted in several editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in the Midwest and Who’s Who in the World.
