Monica Harris-Broome, MD, Chief Executive Officer of Arête Medical Enterprise, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in medical consulting.
With nearly 30 years of professional experience, Dr. Harris-Broome has been the chief executive officer of Arête Medical Enterprise since 2015. She is also the director of healthcare communication at the Global Listening Centre and she has been deputy national representative for the International Association for Communication in Healthcare since 2014.
In addition to her work in the field, Dr. Harris-Broome has held a number of roles in academia, including as the director of the University of Miami School of Medicine Communication Skills Program since 2006. On the faculty for Continuing Education, Inc., since 2012, she has been a master trainer with the Institute of Communications in Healthcare since 2004.
Dr. Harris-Broome was inspired to pursue a career in the field by her mother, who encouraged her to help improve the world and put her intelligence to use. She began her career as a student at the University of Miami School of Medicine, where she earned a Doctor of Medicine in 1989.
A respected voice in the field, Dr. Harris-Broome has been active with a number of professional organizations in her areas of expertise. She was named a fellow of the American College of Physicians, for whom she has also been a member of the political action committee. She has served on the advisory board for the International Society for Therapeutic Jurisprudence, she is also on the board of directors of the American Medical Women’s Association and Florida International University. A member of the Society for General Internal Medicine, she has served as an editor and contributed to the narratives column and medical encounters for the American Academy on Communications in Healthcare.
Throughout her career, Dr. Harris-Broome has been recognized for her contributions, having received a Service Award from the Disabled Veterans Association. The Cold War Warriors Association gave her a Cold War Star, she was the recipient of a Campaign Medallion, and the Patient Education and Counseling journal gave her a Service Award.
