She then joined Tennessee State University, where she completed a Master of Science in chemistry. She subsequently studied medicine at Meharry Medical College, earning a Doctor of Medicine, and she held an otolaryngology residency with the University of Rochester and a pediatric otolaryngology fellowship with the Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Jeyakumar is recognized a diplomate of the American Board of Otolaryngology.
