R. Barrett Noone, clinical professor of surgery at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in plastic surgery.
With more than 40 years of professional experience, Dr. Noone has been a clinical professor of surgery with the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine since 1989, having been a clinical associate professor since 1983 and an assistant professor since 1974. He has also been recognized as executive director emeritus of the American Board of Plastic Surgery, Inc., since 2015, having been executive director since 1997. Dr. Noone also held a number of roles with Main Line Health, including as chair of the department of surgery from 1991 to 2001 and chief of the service on plastic surgery from 1977 to 2005 at Bryn Mawr Hospital, and as chief of service in plastic surgery at Lankenau Medical Center from 1980 to 1991.
Dr. Noone began his career as a student at the University of Scranton, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in 1961. He continued his studies at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, earning a Doctor of Medicine in 1965. He joined the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for a rotating internship from 1965 to 1966, subsequently serving as a resident in surgery until 1971 and as a resident in plastic surgery from 1971 to 1973. In 1974, Dr. Noone was named head of the section on plastic surgery, holding this position until 1980. He is recognized as a diplomate of the American Board of Surgery, Inc., and the American Board of Plastic Surgery, Inc.
