From 1998 to 2001, she was the director of the Macomb Academy of Arts and Sciences, also working as a counselor with Armada High School from 1998 to 2000 and as a consultant for the ACT from 1990 to 1992. Earlier in her career, Dr. Pemberton was a teacher with Detroit Public Schools and Van Buren Public Schools from 1967 to 1989.
Dr. Pemberton began her career as a student at Wayne State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in 1969, a Master of Education in 1972, and a Doctor of Education in 1985. She is certified as a licensed professional counselor, a clinical forensic counselor, criminal justice specialists, a certified cognitive behaviorist, a K-12 teacher, and an administrator in the state of Michigan.
