Arthur F. Gelb, MD, Professor of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in pulmonology and higher education.
A clinical professor of medicine in the Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles, since 1974, Dr. Gelb has amassed 45 years of professional excellence in both education and pulmonology, the study of lung diseases. Prior to this appointment, he served as a pulmonologist at Arthur F. Gelb Medical Corporation in 1973.
To prepare for his illustrious career, Dr. Gelb pursued a formal education, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts from Vanderbilt University in 1963, followed by a Doctor of Medicine from the School of Medicine at St. Louis University in 1967. He has since been certified to practice medicine in the state of California, and he is certified in pulmonary disease and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
In recognition of his exceptional contributions to medicine, Dr. Gelb was honored as a Top 100 Scientist by the American Thoracic Society in 2018, where he was also considered a fellow. In addition, he was awarded a Faculty Research Grant by the American University of Sharjah in 2017. Notably, Dr. Gelb was selected for inclusion in several editions of Who’s Who in America.
