To prepare for his illustrious career, Dr. Bennett pursued an education at the University of London, earning bachelor degrees (BS, MB) in 1964 and a doctorate (MD) in 1978. After moving to the United States in 1972 he became board certified in internal medicine and rheumatology. A prolific author, he has contributed 230 peer reviewed articles to professional journals, 68 book chapters and 186 research abstracts. He holds 4 US patents in the field related to growth hormone deficiency (#5,378,686 and #965,520) and cell surface DNA receptors #6,602,707 and #7,132,399). In addition, he was the book editor of Generalized Musculoskeletal Syndrome in 2007 and has been on the editorial boards of Pain, Arthritis and Rheumatism, and the Journal of Musculoskeletal Pain. A former president of the International Myopain Society from 2001 to 2004, Dr. Bennett has accrued several accolades during his impressive career. In recognition of his contributions to rheumatology, he was elected a Master of the American College of Rheumatology in 2007. He is also a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (London) and the American College of Physicians.
