Lee Crandall Park, MD, Retired Psychiatrist, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in psychiatry.
An esteemed figure in the field of psychiatric services, Dr. Park has amassed more than 60 years of professional excellence in his areas of expertise. Now retired, he most recently served as an honorary staff member in the department of medicine at the Henry Phipps Psychiatric Clinic at Johns Hopkins Hospital from 1991 to 2016 and staff member in the department of psychiatry and behavioral sciences from 1959 to 2008. Serving Johns Hopkins Hospital beginning in 1955, he held several other prominent roles, including member of the departmental council, assistant director of clinical services, director of the psychiatric outpatient services and community psychiatry program, and assistant psychiatrist. Alongside his primary endeavors, he also upheld his own private practice beginning in 1964 and was an associate professor at Johns Hopkins University from 1971 to 2008.
To prepare for his illustrious career, Dr. Park pursued a formal education, earning a Bachelor of Science in zoology from Yale University in 1948 and Doctor of Medicine from Johns Hopkins University in 1952. He subsequently completed his internship at Johns Hopkins Hospital from 1952 to 1953, followed by a residency in psychiatry at the U.S. Navy Hospital in Oakland, CA, in 1953 and 1954.
Dr. Park is renowned for his research conducted into borderline and narcissistic personality disorders, the long-term effects of childhood emotional abuse and neglect, and the interrelationship between psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy. In recognition of his exceptional contributions to medicine, he was elected a psychiatry research fellow at Johns Hopkins University, a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and a distinguished lifetime fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. He was also selected for inclusion into several editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in the East, and Who’s Who in the World.
