Jenta Shen, Gynecologic Oncologist, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in medical practice.
Dr. Shen specializes in surgical treatment of female reproductive organs such as the ovary, uterus and cervix. By using surgical and non surgical approaches, he ensures the best care is provided during each time he spends with a patient. Dr. Shen takes pride in personally taking care of the patient from the beginning to the completion of the surgery including all post-operative care. He is devoted to his patients and it has shown in the hundreds of lives he has helped.
Dr. Shen’s love of humanity and biomedical sciences led him to enter the profession. He is the first doctor in his family and following him his three younger brothers became doctors as well. His oldest son is an associate professor of surgery. Nieces and nephews have also followed in his footsteps and became doctors as well. He earned an MD at the National Taiwan University before relocating to the United States. In 1975, he received a PhD in physiology from the University of California, San Francisco. In the years following, Dr. Shen worked as a Galloway Fellow in gynecologic oncology at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and then completed an internship in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of California, San Francisco. Furthermore, Dr. Shen completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the institution. He furthered his medical education with a clinical fellowship in gynecologic oncology at the Women’s Hospital at the University of California, Los Angeles.
Since 2004, Dr. Shen has served as a clinical professor of obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive sciences at the University of California, San Francisco. He has practiced as a gynecologic oncologist since 1983, and started as an OBGYN in his private practice in 1982. Dr. Shen provides his expertise as a consultant for the California Pacific Medical Center and St. Mary’s Medical Center of San Francisco. He has also worked as the Director of Gynecological Oncology with the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology with the California Pacific Medical Center of San Francisco. For his work, he has received the Excellence in Teaching Award from the University of California, San Francisco.
In addition to these positions, Dr. Shen is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and has maintained professional affiliation with the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the International Gynecologic Cancer Society. He is a prolific writer in the field and has been involved on many boards, including the Board of Directors for the Blood Bank of the Pacific and the Board of Trustees for the Global Medical Foundation. He has previously served as president and chairman of the Medical College Alumni Association of North America at National Taiwan University. He endeavors to continue practicing medicine for as many years as he can as he genuinely loves his profession and helping his patients.
