Beatriz Runkle, MD, Clinical Educator, Neonatologist and Retired Pediatrician, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in neonatal-perinatal medicine.
With nearly 35 years of professional excellence in pediatric medicine, Dr. Runkle is an esteemed figure in her field who has influenced and benefitted the lives of hundreds of children. A retired pediatrician since 2017, she currently serves as a clinical assistant professor in pediatrics at Georgetown University School of Medicine, a role she has maintained since 1986. Previously, she was a pediatrician with Fairfax Neonatal Associates, PC, from 2013 to 2017, a neonatologist at Virginia Hospital Center from 1986 to 2013, a medical director of nurseries at Virginia Hospital Center from 1991 to 2004, and an assistant professor of pediatrics at Emory University School of Medicine from 1983 to 1986.
To prepare for her illustrious career, Dr. Runkle pursued a formal education, receiving a Bachelor of Arts from Radcliffe College in 1970 and a Doctor of Medicine from Georgetown University in 1975. She subsequently completed a residency in pediatrics at Georgetown University Medical Center from 1975 to 1979, as well as a fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine at the University of Miami from 1980 to 1983. She is certified in neonatal-perinatal medicine and pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics, and she is licensed to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
In recognition of her exceptional accomplishments, Dr. Runkle has been elected a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and member of the American Civil Liberties Union. In addition, she has been selected for inclusion in several editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, and Who’s Who of American Women. Looking toward the future, she aspires to continue influencing the lives of others.
