Having retired as a general internist in 2014, Dr. Lefeber has nearly 50 years of professional excellence in the field of medicine. Obtaining a Doctor of Medicine, with honors, from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in 1966, he completed his internship in internal medicine at the District of Columbia Hospital in 1967, later completing his residency in internal medicine at Georgetown University Hospital in 1970. He subsequently became chief resident at the William Beaumont Army Medical Center until 1971. Dr. Lefeber has been licensed to practice medicine in the state of Texas, and he is certified in internal medicine and geriatric medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Most recently serving as a consultant with the National Institute of Medicine in Geriatrics from 2013 to 2015, Dr. Lefeber also worked as a physician for Texas Workman’s Compensation for two years. He also served as an attending physician and in private practice in Arizona for a number of years, as well as with the Veteran Affairs Medical Center as chief of general internal medicine. In addition to his primary roles in healthcare, he has served in academia as an assistant professor in internal medicine in the College of Medicine at Texas A&M University and an adjunct lecturer in the department of internal medicine in the College of Medicine at the University of Arizona.

In recognition of his exceptional achievements, Dr. Lefeber was named Top Doctor in San Antonio, TX, and was honored as a Top Physician by the Consumer Research Council of America for ten consecutive years. He was presented with the Award of Excellence from the National Institute of Medicine in 2013 as well. A fellow of the American College of Physicians, Dr. Lefeber has been selected for inclusion in several editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest, and Who’s Who in the World.
