Dr. Swingle is a trusted name in mental health and has been practicing in the field for more than two decades. She became involved in her career while working in accelerated learning. At this venture, she felt she could accomplish more in the clinical aspect. As a mental health expert, she focuses on family systems, family dynamics and the effects of screen-based technology on the brain and behavior. These areas are also her key research interests. She attributes the success she has had in her career to her belief in community and friendship and how both these components drover her forward in her line of work. In addition, she credits the mentors she has had since high school as large factors in her success.
Dr. Swingle first studied at The University of Ottawa, earning a Bachelor of Arts in visual arts in 1987. After a few years of working in this field and realizing her capacity for doing more, she attended The University of British Columbia, receiving a Master of Arts in language education in 1997.
