Lindley H. Wagner, MD, FACP, Assistant Dean Emeritus at Indiana University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in internal medicine, gastroenterology and higher education.
A celebrated figure in medical education, Dr. Wagner has accrued nearly 35 years of professional excellence in his areas of expertise. Previously a consultant of internal medicine and gastroenterology in Lafayette, IN, from 1974 to 1998, Dr. Wagner also served as director of medical education at Purdue University for 27 years, as well as the director of the Lafayette Center for Medical Education at Indiana University for 28 years. Prior to these commitments, he was assistant dean of Indiana University School of Medicine from 1970 to 1998. He began his career as a private practitioner in internal medicine from 1963 to 1974.
Seeking out a formal education prior to his career engagements, Dr. Wagner earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1956 and a Doctor of Medicine in 1959 from Indiana University. He subsequently served as a major in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1969. Alongside his career endeavors, he serves as a percussionist and musician for Cherry Lane Dudes and Crusty Crumbs.
In recognition of his exceptional achievements, Dr. Wagner earned the Outstanding Faculty Award from the Indiana University School of Medicine in 2014 and the Laureate Award from the Indiana Chapter of the American College of Physicians in 2001. Married to Janet Rae McLuckie since 1970, he is the proud father of three children and two grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoys playing percussion, reading, traveling and line dancing.
