Jeffrey R. Rubin, MD, Professor and Chief of Vascular Surgery at Wayne State University School of Medicine, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in vascular surgery.

With a focus on vascular surgery, Dr. Rubin has served as a professor and chief of vascular surgery with the Wayne State University School of Medicine for more than 10 years. In this position, he takes great pride in teaching medical students, fellows, and residents who are pursuing a career in medicine. Among the greatest highlights of his career was serving as president of the Peripheral Vascular Society. Dr. Rubin is also noted as the former president of the Cleveland Vascular Society, as well as a Youngstown committee member of the Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery. His hospital affiliations include the DMC Detroit Receiving Hospital, DMC Harper University Hospital, and Karmanos Cancer Center.

As a leading expert in the industry, Dr. Rubin maintains involvement with the Society of University Surgeons, the Midwest Vascular Surgical Society, the Southern Association for Vascular Surgery, the Society for Vascular Surgery, the Vascular & Endovascular Surgery Society, and the American Board of Surgery. He is also a member of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association’s board of directors. A respected voice in the medical community, Dr. Rubin has contributed numerous articles to professional journals, as well as chapters to books. He has also served as an editor for the Journal of Vascular Surgery and Annals of Vascular Surgery.

Prior to pursuing a career in medicine, Dr. Rubin considered working as a lawyer. He ultimately chose to focus on the field of vascular surgery because he believed it presented the greatest challenge, both on a technical and an academic level. After receiving an MD from the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in 1978, he completed a residency in general surgery with Northwestern University in 1983 and fellowship in vascular surgery with the University of Arizona in 1985. Since 2007, he has served as a professor and chief of vascular surgery with the Wayne State University School of Medicine.

Throughout his career, Dr. Rubin has been selected to receive various teaching awards in recognition of his contributions to health care. He has also been featured in a wide range of honors publications, including Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, and Who’s Who in Science and Engineering.
