Aubrey Johnston Hough, Jr., MD, Professor Emeritus of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in medical education.
A respected authority in the field of clinical pathology, Dr. Hough has been recognized as a professor emeritus with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences since 2004. Throughout his career, he has been credited with a variety of achievements, including the establishment of a group consisting of chemistry majors, which went on to provide an education endowment to the Department of Chemistry. As a result, the department was expanded to include seven faculty members, as well as receive national recognition from the American Chemical Society. Additionally, Dr. Hough is also noted for donating his paid life insurance policy toward the establishment of a professorship in his son’s name.
A diplomate of the American Board of Pathology, Dr. Hough holds a Bachelor of Arts from Hendrix College and a Doctor of Medicine from Vanderbilt University. Upon completing formal education, he joined the university as an associate professor in 1970. He later joined the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 1980 and served in the position of professor of medical science for more than 20 years. Dr. Hough was recognized as an associate dean of translational research with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 2002.
A respected voice in the field, Dr. Hough has contributed numerous articles to scientific journals, as well as chapters to books. He has served as an editorial board member with the American Journal of Clinical Pathology since 2004, and he was recognized as an editorial board member with the Annals of Clinical Laboratory Science, as well as an associate editor with Human Pathology.
Dr. Hough is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Society for Clinical Pathology, and the American Society for Investigative Pathology. He is also a recognized fellow of the American College of Pathologists. Dr. Hough has been featured in a wide range of honors publications, including Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, and Who’s Who in the South and Southwest.
