With support from her family and mentors, Dr. Mostoufizadeh pursued a career as a doctor because she knew she could make a difference in the lives of others. When at work, she combines passion with her robust skill set and education. Largely inspired by her mother, who worked and exhibited professionalism in all aspects of her life, Dr. Mostoufizadeh was supported and feels empowered to help others through her ability to focus and provide top quality patient care.

Not long after earning an MD from the University of Tehran in 1973 with honors, Dr. Mostoufizadeh came to the United States and jumped into the field. She completed an internship at the MacNeal Memorial Hospital before joining St. Vincent Hospital as a resident. She then completed hospital fellowships at Brigham Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital. She attributes much of her success to her mentor, Robert E. Scully. In her line of work, she specializes in anatomic and clinical pathology and is accredited in both by the American Board of Pathology.

Dr. Mostoufizadeh was ranked among the top students by the time she graduated high school in 1966. This level of dedication to her studies and career has led to receiving accolades. She is included in an encyclopedia which lists a number of important Persian women. She is featured in the scientists and engineers category of the encyclopedia. From 2003 to 2006, she was nominated for the Woman of the Year award. Dr. Moustoufizadeh has served on a number of hospital committees throughout her career, starting out on the Surgical Case Review at Brigham & Women’s Hospital from 1981 to 1985. At the present, she serves as Chairperson of Blood Utilization and Transfusion Committee and on the Medical Executive Committee at Jefferson Hospital.
