Darrell L. Cass, MD, FACS, FAAP, Director of Fetal Surgery at Cleveland Clinic, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Pediatric Surgery.
Dr. Cass has worked hard to be a great surgeon with good judgments and good colleagues. His expertise is unique to about eight physicians in the world, and he often treats life-threatening conditions light lung malformations or tumors, while helping patients and families through a tough situation to a positive outcome. Dr. Cass was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society, and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is also a co-director of the Texas Center of Fetal Surgery in Houston, and a well-known speaker in his field.
A native of North Hollywood, CA, Dr. Cass was born to a teacher and an automotive mechanic, and he likens his work with surgery to fixing things with his father. He graduated from Stanford University in 1986 with an AB, and went on to a MD from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1991. In 2001, he was recognized as an assistant professor of the Michael E. Debakey Department of Surgery in Houston, and in 2017 he was appointed to his current position with the Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Cass has also contributed to more than seven books, and has written over 125 articles in peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Cass is a member of the International Fetal Medicine and Surgery Society, the Society of University Surgeons, and the Association of Academic Surgeons. His work has been supported by grants from the American Heart Association and the Juvenile Diabetes Association, as well as the accolade of being listed in the Best of the Best of the Houston Chronicle Newspaper. Dr. Cass believes his success comes from a combination of luck, a good team, technical skills, and great judgment.
