Lawrence Charles Mohr, MD, Physician at the Medical University of South Carolina, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Medicine.
Through hard work and persistence, Dr. Mohr has become a leader in several fields of medical science, and currently serves as a professor of medicine as well as director of the Environmental Bioscience Program at the Medical University of South Carolina. He has served the U.S. armed forces for many years, notably as White House physician from 1987 to 1993 and an associate professor of the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences for three years. After his commission in 1967 as a second lieutenant of the U.S. Army, he earned the rank of colonel in 1989 and received the 1982 Erskine Award from the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, where he received his initial training.
Dr. Mohr has been decorated with a Distinguished Service Medal, an Army Commendation Medal with an Oak Leaf Cluster, a Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, a Bronze Star with two V devices and three Oak Leaf Clusters, and a Silver Star. He received his medical education in the service of the military, earning an honorary AB in 1975 and a MD from the University of North Carolina in 1979. Dr. Mohr became chief resident of the Walter Reed Army Medical Center from 1982 to 1983. He was a commander surgeon of the Ninth Infantry Division at Fort Lewis, WA, and a pulmonary fellow of Walter Reed from 1986 to 1987.
In addition to his work at the Medical University of South Carolina, Dr. Mohr is a member of the Working Group on Disability in United States Presidents and an attending physician of the Medical University Hospital and the Charleston Memorial Hospital. He has contributed numerous works to medical literature, including editing services for “Biomarkers: Medical and Workplace Applications” and “International Case Studies in Risk Assessment and Management.” Dr. Mohr is a recognized fellow of the American College of Physicians and a member of the Order of Military Medical Merit, along with numerous medical societies. He is also a Marquis Who’s Who Industry Expert and recipient of the Marquis Who’s Who Humanitarian Award and the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award.
