He came from a single-mother household with four other siblings. He was able to attend Louisiana State University as a basketball player, receiving a medical degree from the school’s location in New Orleans and becoming eligible for the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. Dr. Cormier worked with Acadiana founder Dr. Alan Appley and Dr. Mark N. Hadley on complex spinal surgery, as well as minimally invasive spinal surgery, open brain surgery, and endoscopic brain surgery.
In addition to his role at Acadiana, Dr. Cormier is also the owner of Orangetheory Fitness Interval Training Center. He won a Resident Leadership Award from the Division of Neurological Surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and is named one of America’s Top Surgeons in Neurosurgery by the Consumers Research Council of America. Dr. Cormier is invested in the practice of neurosurgery and health, which extends to his involvement in motorsports. In coming years, Dr. Cormier hopes to grow the Motorsport Safety Group and increase the practice and awareness of motorsport safety, while actively racing.
