Dr. Cormier has a passion for science only equaled by his passion for motor racing, which has allowed him to become a neurosurgeon and the founder of the Motorsports Safety Group. He was interested in the central nervous system and its surgical aspects, and even though he came from humble beginnings, Dr. Cormier is now able to stand before a crowd and tell his story. From getting into medical school to working on neurosurgery at Duke University, he is very proud of his success. Dr. Cormier now gives back to homeless outreach societies such as the Student Run Homeless clinic in New Orleans, and is a member of numerous medical societies, including the International Council of Motorsport Sciences and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons.

Dr. Cormier now specializes in conditions such as epilepsy, spinal trauma, spinal tumors, brain trauma, brain tumors, cerebral vascular aneurysms, vascular malformations, head injury, and spinal degradation. He came from a single-mother household with four other siblings. He was able to attend Louisiana State University as a basketball player, receiving a medical degree from the school’s location in New Orleans and becoming eligible for the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. Dr. Cormier worked with Acadiana founder Dr. Alan Appley and Dr. Mark N. Hadley on complex spinal surgery, as well as minimally invasive spinal surgery, open brain surgery, and endoscopic brain surgery.

In addition to his role at Acadiana, Dr. Cormier is also the owner of Orangetheory Fitness Interval Training Center. He won a Resident Leadership Award from the Division of Neurological Surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and is named one of America’s Top Surgeons in Neurosurgery by the Consumers Research Council of America. Dr. Cormier is invested in the practice of neurosurgery and health, which extends to his involvement in motorsports. In coming years, Dr. Cormier hopes to grow the Motorsport Safety Group and increase the practice and awareness of motorsport safety, while actively racing.
