Skipi Lundquist Smoot, PhD, Psychologist, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Mental Health.
Dr. Smoot is a licensed clinical psychologist and a licensed marriage and family therapist in the state of California, and has run her private practice in cognitive psyche therapy for adolescents and adults since 1995. She is the author of “Maturation: The Adult Paradigm, the Missing Link for Resolution of Anxiety,” and the recipient of an Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award, featured in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in the West, Who’s Who in the World, and Who’s Who of American Women.
Originally from Aberdeen, Washington, Dr. Smoot owned and operated McDonald’s restaurants from 1965 to 1976, and attended the College of William and Mary to earn a BA in psychology in 1978. She went on to Pepperdine University while working as a psychotherapist, earning a MA in 1980. She served Orange County Child Guidance, the California State Police, and the Mental Health Association of Orange County before completing a PhD form the California School of Professional Psychology, now Alliant International University, in 1985. Dr. Smoot has led two firms, Career Ambitions Unlimited and Psychological Decisions, as clinical director.
Dr. Smoot is a member of the American Psychological Association and the California Psychological Association. Over the course of her career, she has also led a number of psychological seminars and workshops, and served as a consultant in the ‘90s. She maintains her private practice in California, and in her free time Dr. Smoot enjoys music, travel, and research.
