Dr. Brox has achieved his current success with perseverance and a willingness to try new things. He hs been an appointed independent qualified medical examiner of the Department of Workers’ Compensation for the state of California since 2015, and has sat on the medical board of the California Expert Medical Reviewer since 1995. Dr. Brox represents American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons at the American Medical Association, and has been named a Marquis Who’s Who Industry Expert.

An alumnus of the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada, Dr. Brox studied systems design engineering before going on to earn a MD from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, in 1977. He served a mixed internship there as well as a surgical residency with the University of Ottawa in the same province, followed by an orthopedic surgery residency with McMaster University through 1985. Dr. Brox served with the Canadian Forces Medical Service to the rank of captain from 1974 to 1981, and established a private orthopedic practice at the Scarborough Grace General Hospital in 1985. He has practiced medicine across Canada, and arrived to California in 1991 as chief of orthopedic surgery with the Permanente Medical Group in Fresno.

Dr. Brox has also served as and orthopedic surgeon in Corsicana, Texas, and Hanford, California, as well as program director of the University of California, San Francisco Fresno Orthopedic Surgical Residency Program from 2010 to 2014. He is a licensed medical practitioner in New York, Texas, and California, as well as Ontario. In his free time, he is a volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America. He has supported numerous medical societies, and is currently on The Coalition for Quality in Geriatric Surgery. He is the chair of two working groups with the American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons, and specializes in hip and knee surgery, orthopedic surgery, arthroscopic surgery, rehabilitation, evidence-based medicine, and clinical effectiveness research.
