Jay D. Cook, MD, FAAM, Neurology Consultant at Banner Health, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in immunology and neurology.
Dr. Cook has successfully provided quality medical services for more than four decades, and continues to see patients as a neurologist consultant with Banner Health, a role he has held since 2006. In his long and illustrious career, Dr. Cook has prepared the future generations of medical professionals as well as improved the quality of life for many patients. He has taught at such institutions as King Saud University, The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and the Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas. He has consulted and directed neurology programs, especially pediatric neurology programs, for places such as the Dallas Rehabilitation Institute, the National Institutes of Health, the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center and the Texas Health Science Center.
Dr. Cook was set on this path after receiving a Bachelor of Science from Purdue University in 1965. He continued his education at Duke University, where he received an MD in 1968. Following this, he completed an internship, two residencies and a fellow ship with the Duke University Health System. He moved on to the National Cancer Institute with the National Institutes of Health for additional laboratory training in immunology. Dr. Cook is a diplomate in child neurology with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Inc and the American Board of Pediatrics. He holds licenses to practice in the states of Maryland, North Carolina and Texas. In his career he has received such awards as an honoree in Top Doctors from US News Report, the Hamilton Watch Award, the President’s Scholastic Award, and voted as an Outstanding Teacher for St. Vincent’s Clinic. He has also been voted on of the Top Doctors in Phoenix, Arizona and one of the Best Child Neurologists in Dallas.
Throughout his career, Dr. Cook has maintained affiliation with various organizations that have aided in his professional development and growth. He has aligned himself with the American Medical Association, the Neurological Rehabilitation Society, the Professors of Child Neurology, the American Academy of Neurology, the Child Neurology Society, Omicron Delta Kappa and Phi Eta Sigma.
