Daniel L. Ridout III, MD, FACP, Gastroenterologist, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Medicine.
Dr. Ridout was named a fellow of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy in 2017, the latest recognition for many years of medical success. He has run a private practice since 1986, and is also a fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American Gastroenterological Association, as well as a 2003 inductee into the African American Museum and Historical Society of Delaware Hall of Fame. Dr. Ridout is a Marquis Who’s Who Industry Expert, and a recipient of a Marquis Who’s Who Humanitarian Award and an Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award.
Born in Salisbury, Maryland, Dr. Ridout is an alumnus of Dartmouth College, where he studied music composition and orchestration. He earned a MD from the University of Cincinnati in 1979, and was a chief medical resident and clinical instructor of medicine with the University of Pennsylvania Graduate Hospital. Now Penn Medicine at Rittenhouse, the hospital offered Dr. Ridout training in internal medicine and gastroenterology, and he stayed as a clinical instructor until 1984. He has held a number of clinical and teaching professions since then, and was a partner of the Eastern Shore Physicians and Surgeons at the Riverside Health System, as well as chief medical advisor and principal speaker at Morehouse School of Medicine in 2014. The topic was an educational program to increase colorectal cancer screening.
Among numerous awards, Dr. Ridout has notably been recognized in 2014 with the Highest Patient Satisfaction/Quality Care Assessment of Riverside Medical Group, in the 90th Percentile. He has received a 1998 Community Service Award from Delaware County, and has worked with the Murphy African Methodist Episcopal Church of Chester, the Tidewater Community College Registered Nursing School at Eastern Shore Community College, as well as the Coatesville Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He is a prolific contributor to medical literature. In his free time, Dr. Ridout enjoys boating, choral singing, conducting choir, and listening to music.
