Mark S. Granick, MD, FACS, Chief of Plastic Surgery and Professor of Surgery at Rutgers, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Medicine.
As a college student working in biology laboratories, Dr. Granick saw many people with problems getting research grants, which inspired him to go into medicine. He pursued plastic surgery as a field with a degree of creativity, allowing him to solve problems with his own plans and the patient’s history to address patient need. Every time he successfully treats a patient, Dr. Granick is proud of his work. He is known for developing the journal E-Plasty, which has grown considerably in the past decade. Dr. Granick is a recipient of the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award, and has appeared in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, and Who’s Who in the East.
Born in New York, New York, Dr. Granick studied with Cornell University to earn a BA, cum laude, and completed a MD from Harvard Medical School in 1977. He interned in surgery with the Harvard Surgical Service at the New England Deaconess Hospital, and served a residency there in otolaryngology. From 1979 to 1982, he was a resident in plastic surgery with the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston, and served two more years of residency with the University of Pittsburgh. He was named chief of plastic surgery at the Medical College of Pennsylvania Hospital, worked as a professor of surgery at Hahnemann University Hospital from 1990 to 2000, and went on to Rutgers in 2001. He was chief of plastic surgery at the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine until assuming his current role in 2013.
Dr. Granick was recently named 2017 Best Clinician of Medical LiveWire Global by Corporate LiveWire, and has contributed numerous publications to medical literature. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of the Northeastern Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Association of Plastic Surgeons, and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. He is a senior member of the Plastic Surgery Research Council and the Wound Healing Society. Dr. Granick has been married to Carol Singer since 1994, and is the proud father of two daughters.
