William D. Hardin Jr., MD, Pediatric Surgeon and Professor of Surgery, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Medicine.
Dr. Hardin became a surgeon because he was interested in the technical aspects of medicine, and attributes his success to hard work, his educational background, and the support he receives from family and friends. He is most gratified to have the opportunity and the privilege to care for young children. In 2017, Dr. Hardin was named one of the Best Doctors in America, and was named Best Doctor by Colorado Springs in 2016 and 2017. He is the recipient an Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award.
An alumnus of Harvard University, Dr. Hardin studied biology and went on to earn a MD from the School of Medicine at Tulane University in 1979. He interned in general surgery at Charity Hospital and Louisiana State University, serving a residency there in 1981. Dr. Hardin was accepted as a fellow in pediatric surgery with the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, and in 2007 he returned to work with the Charity Hospital. He has volunteered his time with the Alumni Associations of Harvard University and Tulane University, as well as with Newark Academy.
In five years, Dr. Hardin intends to grow within the medical field, and become a full-time professor with the department of surgery at the University of Colorado. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the American Pediatric Surgical Association, the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma, the American Trauma Society, the Association for Academic Surgery, the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, and the International Pediatric Endosurgery Group. In his free time, Dr. Hardin enjoys working on computers, photography, skiing, travel, and spending time with his daughter. He was recently honored as a 2017 All American Shooter by the National Sporting Clays Association.
