Dr. Morales is a young medical chief in the metropolitan capital of Chile, currently with the critical care division at Hospital la Florida. He supplies a wide ranging expertise on pulmonary care, intensive care medicine, and adult intensive care from a diverse academic background, most recently with the celebrated Edward Hines, Jr. Veterans Affairs Hospital in Hines, Illinois. Dr. Morales has been a physician for 13 years, and this is his fourth year with the Hospital La Florida.
Though young, Dr. Morales is a recognized committee member of the Etica del Hospital Clínica Metropolitano la Florida, and received a 2010 Becas-Chile Scholarship from Chile’s National Commission for Science and Technology. He was initially licensed by the Universidad Católica de la Santísima Concepción, and went on to specialize in internal medicine with the Universidad de Chile and the Hospital Clínico Universidad de Chile. In 2008, he earned a Diplomado en Medicina Intensiva from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, and went on to focus on adult intensive care with the Universidad del Desarrollo.
In 2011, Dr. Morales joined the Edward Hines VA Hospital as a pulmonary research and critical care medicine fellow with Loyola University of Chicago and the Stritch School of Medicine. He was able to practice in a medical system with six outpatient clinics, treating more than 630 thousand patients annually, with state-of-the-art facilities and the cream of the crop of pulmonary experts in the U.S. Upon his return to Chile, he was named medical chief of critical care medicine at the Hospital la Florida, where he continues to serve patients in Santiago.
