Since 1998, Dr. Floch has worked with his current practice, helping save and improve the lives of his patients. He previously worked as an instructor of surgery with the Mayo Clinic and as a director of bariatric surgery with Western Health Care Systems. Focused on general and bariatric surgery, he possesses a wide range of skills which he learned through practice and education. Dr. Floch attributes his success to loving his work because he helps people lose weight, sometimes a tremendous amount of weight, and helps to resolve their medical issues. He finds it extremely rewarding.

Dr. Floch earned an MD from the Boston University School of Medicine in 1992. He continued to receive a magna cum laude diplomate at Tufts University. He completed a residency in general surgery at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City and a fellowship in advanced laparoscopic surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL. Aiding in his professional development, Dr. Floch has served on the Council for Advancement of Bariatrics, Lap-Band® for Allergan Inc. and Apollo Endosurgery. He has served in several roles with the American Medical Association, the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons.

In his line of work, Dr. Floch has received several awards and accolades. In 2016, he was honored with the Presidential Award from ASMBS. He was named Top Doctor in Bariatric Surgery from Connecticut Magazine in 2011 and 2012. In 2009, he was selected as a Best Physician in the Consumer’s Guide to Top Doctors. Dr. Floch has also been nominated for the Melville G. Magida Award for Outstanding Young Physician from the Richard and Hinda Rosenthal Foundation and Fairfield County Medical Association. In addition, he received the Scallen Award for Innovations in Antireflux Surgery from Norwalk Hospital.
